During her MSc studies, Aimee had the opportunity to shadow a team of atmospheric scientists at Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii, and went on to achieve a CertHE Environmental Science with Open University, heightening her awareness of environmental and socio-economic challenges, and the importance of environmental and natural resource management.

As part of Aimee’s MSc, she also established a strong relationship with the Small Island Organisation (SMILO) and assisted the National Trust on Brownsea Island in Poole to focus on the process of transitioning to sustainability, leading to their obtaining the SMILO sustainable small island accreditation. Aimee’s dissertation for her Masters recognises that small islands are fragile, unique, and at the forefront of global changes, making them perfectly positioned to be pioneers for sustainable development.

In her spare time, Aimee is part of a team of volunteers who manage the Guernsey conservation herd and she is also the main injured bat rehabilitator in Guernsey.
